I attended my very first Travel Counsellors Conference over the weekend of 14-16 November – and wow, what an amazing weekend it was!
It’s hard to convey just how blown away I was from the scale and standard of the event. From start to finish, we were treated to an incredible star-studded line up, featuring Vernon Kay, Russell Watson and my personal highlight of the weekend, a performance by megastars Simply Red!
The conference began on Friday with a range of workshop sessions, offering specially tailored training from across our head office team. I attended sessions on improving my sales and how to value myself more as a Travel Counsellor. I found the workshops incredibly motivating and informative. At Travel Counsellors we’re always fully supported to reach our goals and achieve our full potential, so training always plays a big part in this. I took away so much, and learned more about the company as a whole.
Across the weekend, there were sessions from the Travel Counsellors management team, as well as some special guest speakers. Hearing about the company’s upcoming plans for the year ahead has made me so excited for 2015!
It’s now been a year since I joined Travel Counsellors, and it really has been a monumental year in my life. After working for 11 years on the high street in a travel agency, from an apprentice through to one of the highest sales consultants in Liverpool, it got to the point where I wanted to make the move to be my own boss. I was confident in my skills, and knew I had a lot to offer my customers. Since making the decision to change my future I’ve not looked back. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done and I’ve finally found the career path I’ve always been searching for. I’m so proud of everything I’ve achieved over the past year, from hitting 350k in sales in my first 11 months which has resulted in me tripling my previous salary! I’m so happy to be my own boss. There really is no better feeling than doing something you love for a living.
Everything I’ve managed to achieve wouldn’t have been possible without the support from head office – who have all become more like friends than colleagues. I’ve set myself a target of doubling my sales for my second year, and I want to become one of the company’s top performing agents by achieving ‘Gold’ status. As I’ve learnt at conference, if you believe in yourself and set goals, then anything is possible.
